New Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano took a shot at the Tennessee Volunteers in his introductory press conference at Rutgers today, per Zach Braziller of the New York Post.
“I think reflecting on it, just shows Jersey people are a little sharper. They get it.”
Schiano was in line to become the head coach of the Vols two years ago, until the university backed off of a memorandum of understanding following fan backlash after the news broke, centering around allegations that Schiano knew of the child abuse by Jerry Sandusky while he was an assistant at Penn State. Schiano was 68-67 in his first stint at Rutgers, leading the program to six bowl games in 11 seasons at the helm.
