Jaguars DT Marcell Dareus to Have Surgery; Will Miss At Least 4 games

The Jaguars are going to be without the services of Marcell Dareus for at least the next four games. The Jags DT is having surgery today to repair a core muscle injury. He’s in Philly with expert Dr. William Meyers, who will perform the straightforward procedure that has a very high rate of full recovery.

Dareus has been a core piece of Jacksonville's defense since he was traded to the Jaguars by the Buffalo Bills on Oct. 27, 2017 for a sixth-round draft pick that later turned into a fifth-round draft pick. He was able to step in and start right away for a defense that struggled vs. the run, helping the unit become closer to average than they were before.

With Dareus out Dawuane Smoot and Taven Bryan will see an increase in snaps, with rookie defensive tackle Dontavius Russell also likely to becoming active.
