The Florida Gators will be without 10 players for the season opener against the Michigan Wolverines, including their leading returning receiver (Antonio Callaway) and their leading returning rusher (Jordan Scarlett). However, more may be to come.
Sources say that more UF players could be suspended in relation to an ongoing UFPD investigation. Per Spectrum Sports' Zach Aldridge:
"The Gators will now be without 10 players for Saturday’s opener, but that number could rise. A source tells Spectrum Sports more players will be suspended in the future due to their involvement in the ongoing UFPD investigation."
That isn't the end of it, either. The Gainesville Police Department is in the middle of an investigation involving Florida players, and is assisting UFPD in investigations involving players as well.
