The Dolphins did reach out to Peyton Manning about comeback

According to Archie Manning after Ryan Tannehil went down with an injury last season the Miami Dolphins did try to gauge Peyton Manning's level of interest in returning for one more post-season run.

“It started with Gase,” Archie Manning recalled. “He said, ‘Hey 18, Tannehill went down.’ He said, ‘I think he’s going to miss some time. The first question I’m going to get at the press conference in the morning is if I’m going to try to bring you to Miami. What do you want me to tell them?'”

Manning's former Offensive Coordinator was creative in his approach but Archie said it was pretty obvious that Peyton was done though.

“The text message came back from Peyton, said Archie: ‘You tell them I could probably come play, but there’s no way I can miss carpool the next two weeks.’ So, he was done.”
