Steve Spurrier says Tim Tebow won't play for Apollos; staying with baseball

Steve Spurrier told PFT LIVE that after the AAF briefly reached out to Tebow in the ball, it became clear that Tebow’s focus is on playing baseball.

“No, and I don’t blame Tim,” Spurrier said. “Tim’s got a chance to go to Major League Baseball. I think Tim’s probably headed in the baseball direction. I don’t blame him. If I were in his situation I’d probably do the same thing.”

This weekend Tebow will begin his third season in the New York Mets’ system and was invited to join the team’s major league camp because he wasn’t on the 40-man roster. Before his 2018 season was ended by a broken bone in his right hand in July, he hit .273 with six home runs and 36 RBI in 84 Class AA games. Now 31, he has hit .244 average in 210 minor league games.
